I would never call this a lotion. It is as thick as an ointment. However, it makes a great nighttime hand cream, so I gave it 4 stars.
I have keratosis pilaris and this cream has been pretty helpful. I also have been putting it on my feet, and after the first night, they felt super soft, but that only lasted a day. I`m disappointed that my feet continue to be rough, but the rest of my skin is softer than before. I wish this came in a bigger, pump-type dispenser, because I have the keratosis pilaris all over, so it takes quite a while to spread the thick cream on my skin.
I would only use this on my hands, and at night when going to bed. I could not tell a difference; in fact I developed splits in my skin at the corner of my nail bed. I had put this on auto-renewal but cancelled.
Finally a product that will take care of my dry skin. This was recommended by a dermatologist to me and he was right on the money!
I am VERY impressed! I have had irritated, bumpy skin on my legs for years. Nothing worked to really alleviate it. I did end up getting a prescription but couldn`t really afford it at the time, so I just kept trying over-the-counter lotions, but to no avail. I recently found this here, read the reviews, and decided to try it despite the price, which I felt was high. Well now I think it`s been worth every penny. Within days there was a huge improvement, and now there`s nary a trace of the bumps and irritation at all. I use it all over and my skin is so much softer. This stuff is simply amazing and I`d recommend it highly to anyone. I note some comments on the scent - it really is very minimal and disappears very quickly. It`s really a non-issue; don`t let it put you off this wonderfully effective product.
This deserves a galaxy of stars, as it is the best product out there for dry skin. It seems expensive, yet it is worth every penny, especially if you have tried everything else. Nothing else comes close.
I use this for my Ichthyosis. (Really dry scaly skin) It works just as good as Rx products for 1/3 the price! It makes it smooth and flake free. You have to continually use it or symptoms come back, but this is also true of Rx medication.
I have a skin condition called "ichthyosis" and this lotion is, by far, the best lotion on the market. It`s even more effective than the prescription lotions for this condition. I do wish it was packaged in a jar instead of a tube. Because of its thickness, it is difficult to utilize all the cream from the tube. At the end of the tube, I cut the end off and spoon out the remaining cream into a jar. It`s amazing how much is left.
I am a retired health professional, and have NO financial interest in this product or company. Pros: It really works. Noticeable improvement overnight(decreased pain from cracks). Significant improvement in a few days (no pain and cracks closing). Continued improvement with daily use even if you skip a day once in a while (cracks gone and thick skin decreasing). Normal skin after a few months of daily use (but don`t stop). Only takes a small amount to maintain improved status (after initial few weeks, for example, if your heels are dry, cracked, and bleeding a little like mine were). Cons:Very mild odd (but not really disagreeable) odor. It just doesn`t have the "pink perfume" smell you may be used to in OTC products that don`t work anyway. Price is up there, but you really do get what you pay for, so I would vote it a Best Buy based on benefit to cost ratio. (I don`t think there is a better product available at any price).
I swear to God this is the best thing on the market over-the-counter OR prescription for dry skin caused by cold weather. My hands were so dry that the tips of my fingers were splitting open with little paper-cut type things. AmLactin XL TOTALLY cured them in 2 days! No BS. I still can`t believe it. I had 2 sample tubes (0.21 oz.), and I still have one left. The only reason I came on this site was to buy some more. Take my word for it, AmLactin is the greatest. I am going to find out who makes it, and buy some stock!
Love this stuff - my skin gets dry and so itchy in the winter that I scratch till it hurts, sometimes bleeds - so awful. This stuff is great at keeping my skin from flaking, hurting, and itching. Only negative: the smell. I swear it smells like Thai peanut sauce. Not a bad smell, but not exactly what I`m going for most of the time.
My dermatologist recommended this cream to me and stated it was better than any prescription cream he could give me...and he was right! Works super fast on challenging dry skin! I have tried many other creams and to no avail, until AmLactin XL. I`ve tried other creams and lotions for Keratosis Pilaris on my upper arms with little effect. After using Amlactin XL for 1 week, twice a day, my upper arms are soft and smooth. It`s on the pricey side, but worth every cent.
