I can attest to the fact that this product "really" really does work for "Depression" (not anxiety) equal to Prozac or any other synthetic anti depressants that the "Drug Dealers" FDA manufacture and force down our throats. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first, having tried it for myself; I can say that I was off any prescription drugs by my 3rd week of taking St Johns Wort. You will feel the full effects anywhere from 6-8 weeks, just like any prescription drugs for depression.
I have been using this product for 11 years, and it works very well for medium level depression without any side effects - which is something I could not say for any of the prescription depression medicines. The success has been due to the dosing being very consistent and use of the whole plant instead of a distillate. Nearly every other St. John`s Wort is some kind of distillate. Prescription depression medicines would have all failed to work in this time span, requiring me to wean off one medicine and start another; meanwhile feeling the depression increase between medicines and risking the next medicine not working. This product is a blessing for anyone experiencing a mild to medium level of depression, and I strongly recommend it. Just be sure to realize that even though it is natural and not a prescription, it is still a drug and one should be careful and treat it as such.
This product was too strong for my system. I could feel it set on, and it made me slightly paranoid. I felt some benefits of the product, but I think it is a high dosage. I will try time released version of a different brand.
I have been living with depression since 1991. This year, I started taking St. John`s Wort as a compromise to all of the "wonderdrugs" with lousy side effects. This GNC product is different from the one I used to take (where the hypericum was just 350mg). Still, the higher dosage really works. It gives me balance I need in my life.
