How it works:

Works great. I fill this up every night (when used on the high setting). Puts out a lot of moisture, easy to operate and pretty quiet. Highly recommend!
So Far So Good! Just received a week ago and been using daily. On low steam, it ran continuously nearly a full 24 hours. There`s a convenient place for putting inhalants so that the steam carries the scent throughout the house. I put several drops (about 1/2 tsp) of essential oils in the compartment a week ago and the whole house still smells great! Still some oils left in the compartment too. Cheaper and less dangerous than candles! One word of caution - make sure you clean it regularly. I waited a week to take apart and clean and there was a lot of mineral build up on the heating unit. I advise you clean the heating element after every refill.
My husband and I have been using this humidifier every night for the last month and have had no problems with it so far. One tankful lasts all night on the high setting. We`ve had no leaks or problems with the tank. We`re using tap water and there is definite calcium buildup on the boiling component each night. Nothing a rinse under the faucet won`t fix though. We empty the tank each night and let it dry during the day and so far no nasty mold or mildew. It makes a little noise (boiling water and escaping steam), but nothing that keeps us up at night. Actually kinda comforting!
