My husband and I are both physicians and cannot get an accurate reading on our children using this ear thermometer. Keep getting readings around 95 degrees and lower no matter how we place the probe in the ear canal. As a practical matter, the thermometer is bulky and takes up a lot of space. Does not lay flat and fits poorly on a shelf in the medicine cabinet.
My wife bought this off of drugstore.com and we were excited to have an instant ear thermometer, but when we tried it out, it kept giving us a reading of 95.0 and below. We followed the instructions and I think we`ve both tried it about 50+ times and have not gotten readings that look anywhere near normal.
I like the compact design and the large readout. The probe covers are easy to get on. Also it does read in about 1 second. However you must tug on the ear to achieve proper positioning and can get very inaccurate readings if the probe is not inserted exactly right. This is my first experience with ear thermometers, so maybe they are all like this?
