Used this 30 years ago and surprised still available, since so many mini food processors are in stores, but this you can use anytime/anywhere, and perfect to have on hand should you be unable to get to the store (snowbound, etc.) Very convenient to take to Grandma`s, restaurants, etc. Great that you can feed baby from top of grinder. I would grind whatever dinner selections Grandma served on holidays (turkey, potatoes, vegetables, soups) , but would add some of a jar of baby carrots or other veg. to make looser. Works best with cooked foods. After raising two children and using this for the second child, he proved to be a better eater due to this early start of a variety of foods. After child was grown, I used it to grind sauteed onions or any ingredient I needed pureed for a recipe. as so much easier to clean than an electric mini processor, and this had held up for 30 years! Wonderful gift for a new parent!
This food mill only works well with soft foods. The same foods that you could easily mash with your fork or cut with your knife. Much easier to do it the "old fashioned way
My baby won` t eat baby food. So now I just mash the toddler food or regular food and he eats. Also I think he likes his food warm, too, and that helps him want to eat the regular baby food, too.
I would not go without this easy to use baby food grinder. I wish I would have found it when I had my first baby. I have used it for my second baby and grind fruits/vegetables up, then freeze them in ice cube trays for quick and easy feedings. I have not bought one jar of baby food and am saving lots of money plus giving my baby great tasting food. I plan to take it along to our relative`s homes for the holidays so he can enjoy all the same great food we do.
Great idea and easy to use, but since I bought it I`ve noticed a gray discoloration to some of the food I`ve ground with the mill. I`m worried that the metal coating on the grinder is flaking off on the food.
Fantastic product and so easy to use! I was never interested in buying a food mill because I had no time to make my own baby food. But, I discovered this little gem when I had my second child and he wanted to eat everything his older sister ate. So I just took a few spoonfuls of her food (pasta, fruit, PB&J sandwich) or cut a small piece of meat and added a little water or juice and he instantly got to share his sister`s food. And real food ground up tastes so much better than canned baby food. Now I wish I would have bought it years ago.
