I have been using GF16 for about 3 weeks. Part of my hair that had some color is considerably darker, the light grey is now a light brown and my light grey/white is SLOWLY changing to a very light brown. I shampoo every day with LOreal Vive for Men, towel dry then apply the GF16. I let the GF16 air dry on the drive to work. NOBODY has noticed that my hair is getting darker. A very slow process. It`s a chemical reaction so it HAS to work. Just give it time.
I have used it off and on, and its okay, but hardly has any chance of turning my gray/white hair back into anything close to even a light brown. For those who complain that it says not to wash your hair more than once a week, that is only in the beginning. Once the color is reached, you can wash every day, just use a gentle shampoo. I just want something that will take my gray/white hair, and make it more towards its light brown, without dying it, and then dealing with white roots. How come all the dye colors are for thirty year olds? Give us something that will darken the white, and give something akin to a salt and pepper look.
So far so good. I`ve been using it (fairly) consistently for 3 weeks and notice a dramatic difference. The odor seems to be countered by its effectiveness, in my mind and in many other reviewers here, but the creator of this fragrance can only be described as a sabateur. It is most similar to a locker room stench and if you were self-conscious about your (gray) hair, wait until you venture into public as pig pen. I`m looking forward to the once every two week application. I resonate with the concern about the chemicals and will do more research - but Europe, for good or bad, is notorious for banning chemicals we freely use here (e.g., certain food colorings), which most of us tolerate with abandon, and so may not be a relevant reference point for the average American.
I have used this product for years, off and on. The only reason I quit: it stinks!! On the other hand, after a few weeks I look in the mirror and NO gray. You have to use it every day in the beginning. It`s up to you use it, no gray, cry about the smell, or go gray. You decide what`s more important.
It works for me and doesn`t smell that bad. I wash my hair every day and it still works.
I keep my hair short. This product did not work for me at all over 3 weeks. I realized what a fool I was for tolerating that disgusting odor(perfumed sulfides) all that time. I have been using women`s Level 1 hair coloring products (Lady Clairol) and am very satisfied.
It works. It smells.
Seems to work fine for me. Put it on in the morning after my hair is dried, leave it on all day (and night, unless I work out and shower in the evening). The smell is gone once it dries.
The previous bad reviews were spot on...this stuff smells terrible and makes my hair kinda unmanageable. Impossible to not wash your hair every day after applying this stuff.
Read the instructions! The instructions say you can only wash your hair once a week or else this product is not effective. Also, the stuff smells terrible. If you wash your hair more than once a week, do not buy this product.
Works great! Just takes time -- about 4 weeks. The only drawback is the odor.

Grecian Formula 16 really works! I found it takes patience and daily use (follow the instructions exactly as noted on the bottle), but after about 6 weeks.....what a difference! Also, the secret to making this stuff work faster, better and lasting longer is SUNSHINE. Apparently the UV rays in sunshine make this formula work much, much better. I started using it during an East Coast winter, and it was slow. But, as soon as I went to Hawaii on vacation in February, I noticed the dramatic difference after a couple of days in the tropical sunshine. It`s been great ever since -- 4 years now.
