Thongs
Eye catching and functional, thong underwear is now the mainstay of most women's
lingerie drawers. Formerly the domain of exotic dancers, sexy thongs are now the
lingerie of choice for women of all ages because there's nothing better than a
no show thong under tight-fitting skirts.
Why Wear Thongs?
Many women asked themselves this question when they first came on the market.
However, with immediate acceptance came the answers. Though thongs offer very
little support or coverage, their minimalist design offers many advantages over
traditional panties:
- There are no panty lines.
- Thongs are extremely sexy.
- Team up nicely with matching bras to make a very sexy lingerie set.
- Provide a great tease under sheer sleepwear.
- Makes for an outrageous fashion statement when wearing low-rise jeans.
This look is called "The Whale Tail."
- Low rise thongs are a great solution to low rise fashions.
- Most men absolutely love women in sexy thongs because of their revealing
nature.
- They can be very comfortable when worn correctly.
How is a Thong Worn?
Thongs were initially thought to be uncomfortable by the masses because when a
woman went to put it on, she pulled it up as if she were putting on a brief.
Thongs were designed to rest on the hips. So, naturally, women sensed the
discomfort of the thong being too high in the crotch. Manufacturers such as
Cosabella jumped on the band wagon and lengthened the rise of thongs. In fact,
Cosabella thongs were the first comfortable thongs for the masses. Eventually,
most women came back, tried on a thong again, and found them more comfortable.
Today, with low-rise pants on the market, thongs come in both high-rise and
low-rise styles. For example, the Hanky Panky 4811 is a full rise thong. The
Hanky Panky 4911 is a low rise thong.
What is Thong Underwear?
Thongs are a type of women's underwear that rides high on the hips while leaving
her derriere completely exposed. Because of this, thongs have acquired the less
complimentary name of "butt floss." Strangely enough this crude term is actually
a pretty accurate characterization for this women's underwear garment. When
first introduced on the market, many women found thong underwear uncomfortable.
Since then, manufacturers have cut thongs with a longer rise. Their comfort
level is now very high.
Is a G-String a Thong?
The quick answer is yes. There are actually quite a few variations on this
silhouette known as the thong. Here they are:
- G-Strings - What distinguishes this thong style from others
look at its back. A g string back is a t shape - where the vertical
crotch string intersects with a horizontal waist string. For the
confident woman who is willing to practically bare all back there, this
is her choice. The most famous and best-selling g-string on the market
is the La Perla Sexy Town G-string. It also won The Undie Award for most
favorite.
- Rio - The rio is similar to the t-back, but the sides tend to
have a curve because they crest at the top of the hip, then dive down in
front and back to a more low-rise look.
- T-Back - T-backs look like a g string in back, but the
waistband and vertical center back panel are wider. The waistband also
rides lower - just at the top of a bottoms center line.
- Tanga - The tanga has a full front panel that is similar to a
high-cut brief, and the back is cut so that the lower cheeks of a
woman's bottom are exposed. The tanga covers the most of all the thong
silhouettes.
What Style Thong Should I Buy?
Whether buying for yourself, or as a gift, here are some thoughts to consider
before making your purchase:
- G-Strings are not considered a piece of underwear to be worn all
day.
- Rios and tangas can be worn all day.
- For a first-time thong wearer, the best starter thong will be
one with a high rise and a wide waistband.
- Women with generous hips will look the best in a rio because of
the curvy line it creates around the hips.
- In a man's mind, there is no woman who doesn't look sexy in a
thong. So, big or small, get one and test drive it with your man.
- For elimination of panty lines, select a thong not made with
lace or trims.
- If wanting a thong for everyday wear, find one that is soft,
stretches and will not bind.
- Tidy grooming is a must when wearing any thong style. Make sure
your area is clear of arrant hairs before putting one on.
What Should a Thong be Made of?
The type of fabric is mostly a personal preference, but, as usual, there are
some things to take into consideration:
- Cotton is always a great choice because it breathes, absorbs
and is soft. However, 100% cotton will eventually stretch
out-of-shape.
- Stretch is always good. The more your thong stretches, the
more comfortable you will feel.
- Silk has the same properties as cotton, but is thinner and
feels sexier.
- For total elimination of panty lines, select a thong with
die-cut edges.
- Any embellishments on a thong will be visible if worn under
tight-fitting clothing. If you select lace, make sure it is flat
and stretches.
- Modal fabrics are extremely soft, but the thong should still
have a cotton crotch lining.
- Wicking fabrics are also a good choice because they pull
moisture away from your body.
What Color Thong Should I Wear?
If you want a totally invisible look, a nude thong is your best answer. A black
thong is always the sexiest - with or without lace detailing. The white thong is
traditionally worn by brides. Wearing a white thong under white pants will
absolutely show. The most popular color is a pink thong. This is probably
because a pink thong says you're a girlie girl. Around Valentines Day, a red
thong is the choice. Otherwise, wearing a red thong is sending a very sexy
message.
