Overall Im neutral with this as a backpack. The materials are great quality, the zippers look very strong, it is comfortable and a very attractive bag. Organization is what really lets it down. The mesh compartments arent zippered, except for one, nor do the internal pouches have any sort of velcro fold-over straps. So anything I put in the internal pouches falls out unless the bag is vertical at all times, which is a pretty big oversight. It also doesnt work too well as a large duffle as the design has a slight side-to-side taper at the bottom, and when expanded all the extra space is at the top of the bag. So the main space becomes a sort of cheese wedge with a tapered point. This is not an easy shape to pack. It is further complicated by having a sizeable front accessible pouch which can significantly intrude into the cheese wedge shape when filled. The bottom pouch I use for the bag of travel-sized liquids, and for that it works well, but I cant see what else would fit. The laptop sleeve is easy to access, but not very well padded. The rear compartment holds my computer related items OK, but is too shallow for much else. It seems they tried to have this bag be all things to all people, so it does none of them competently.
Most importantly for me, this pack fits in the overhead bin for carry-on air travel even at maximum capacity.
A great carry on backpack. Holds a ton of stuff and organizes everything, including space for a large laptop in a separate compartment.
strong bag. It endures the abuse of heavy items and being draged on the ground. awesome compartments.
A great bag!
I got this for a two week trip to Europe. I wanted something that held a lot, that kept the most used stuff most readily accessible, that could fit easily into an overhead bin but which could also survive being checked through. The Overhaul satisfied on all counts. Very sensible organization, very roomy, and I love the way the comfortable shoulder straps and waist belt tuck away behind the padded back panel so that they dont hang loose when the bag is checked through. Id like to see some compression straps, but the wrap-around zipper works quite well - much better than I expected. This will be my primary luggage for any trip less than three weeks. Exceptionally rugged, quite light and well balanced on the back, Im 72 years old, and I had no difficulty at all packing it or carrying it.
